Selena Garefino E-RYT, MPH, PhD Candidate

Selena Garefino is the co-founder of Sarva Rasa Yoga. She began practicing yoga when she was 13 years old. Yoga has been and continues to be for Selena, a vehicle for learning to shift from habitual emotional and behavior tendencies towards serving highest possibility.

Selena completed her first vinyasa training with Core Power Yoga. She went on to study with Sarah Powers, Melina Meza, Anne Phyfe, Nicolai Bachman, Elena Brower, and Noah Mazé. She has studied Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Pre-natal and Postpartum Yoga, Vinyasa, and Hatha Yoga.

Selena is dedicated to teaching movement through artful alignment to support her students on and off of their mats. Her classes offer yoga and meditation as a mechanism to shift the way we offer ourselves in all aspects of our lives and as a tool for granting profound healing in our bodies, our hearts, and ultimately our relationships. She is deeply committed to raising up a generation of innovative, knowledgeable teachers to bring the gift of yoga to their communities and the world.

Selena holds  Masters of Public Health from Boston University in Maternal, Child, and Infant Health and International Health. She is a PhD Candidate at the University of Montana in Medical Anthropology specializing in South and South East Asia and Maternal and Infant Health.

It is her greatest joy and honor to raise up teachers and to help students connect with their bodies in meaningful ways, living a more embodied life.

Anwar Gilbert E-RYT, BSc Nutrition, Exercise, and Health

Anwar Gilbert is the co-founder of Sarva Rasa Yoga. Anwar is a yoga teacher, nutritionalist, personal trainer, performance specialist, integrated flexibility specialist, pre/postnatal specialist,  and corrective exercise specialist. Anwar has been guiding his clients on their individual paths to wellness for 14 years. He has been teaching anatomy and physiology and coaching and mentoring personal trainers and movement teachers throughout his career.

In his 17 years he has seen it all, from the brokenhearted and the lost souls to the over confident and the workaholics in need of some me-time.

Anwar believes his role as a coach and teacher is an honored position and not one he takes lightly. The fact that he get to experience the hardships and the engagements, preparing for the birth of their babies and hearing the joy of their newest addition, whipping them into shape for their big day, restoring their confidence after injury or giving them a way to channel their stress or sorrow when things aren't going their way – he feels like the luckiest guy on the planet. Helping someone to love who they are on the outside is about more than lifting weights or developing a dedicated asana practice.

Anwar began his personal journey with yoga 13 years ago and began teaching asana and the 8-limbed path of yoga 7 years ago. Anwar found yoga, meditation, and pranayama to be powerful tools of mindfulness, integration, and a path to living from highest self more of the time. It is his great honor to assist others in finding their own experiential path of yoga.

Anwar is currently a personal trainer, yoga instructor at the highly esteemed Tiger Muay Thai training facility in Phuket, Thailand. His work is dedicated to correcting movement patterns and teaching movement with breath integration and mindfulness.
